Should Language Acquisition Researchers Study “Grit”? A Cautionary Note and Some Suggestions

Grit is theoretically defined as the combination of perseverance and passion for long term goals. Both these constructs are likely to be relevant our understanding how language acquisition occurs explaining between-person differences in rate acquisition.
